アメリカの若者が草食系？！

米国の疾病対策センター（CDC）は、性に関する意識調査をまとめ、性的行為を経験したことがない１５歳から24歳の若者は、2005年の前回調査では男女ともに22％だったのが、男子27％、女子29％に上がったと発表した。日本で「草食系」男子の増加が指摘されるなか、米国人では、男女ともに「草食系」が増える傾向にあるようだ。

　調査は全米でも最大級。06年から08年にかけて、15歳から44歳の男女１万3500人から聞き取り調査した。その結果、15歳から17歳の未成年の性的行為未経験者は、男子が前回の46％から53％に、女子が48％から58％に増加。20歳から24歳でも、男女とも８％から４、５ポイントあがった。

　調査は理由については言及していないが、AP通信などは、ブッシュ前政権時代の保守的な性教育が影響しているのではないかとの見方を指摘している。

上の記事を読むと、確かにアメリカの若者が保守化、草食化しているように読めます。高校生の過半数が性的行為未経験･･･ 日本より多いかもしれない。しかし、大元の報告書とアメリカでの記事を読むと、全然違う側面が読み取れます。

CDC's National Center for Health Statistics found a growing number of young women who said they have had some form of sex with another woman, rising to 13 percent in the latest survey, from about 12 percent in the 2002 survey.The number of young men reporting same-sex encounters fell from 5 percent to 4 percent over the same time period.

It also showed an overall increase in reports of the sexually transmitted disease Chlamydia, especially among 15 to 19-year-olds. （中略）
Among teens, however, the center this time tried to take a closer look at certain, specific sexual behaviors that youth may not typically report as sex because it is not traditional vaginal intercourse.

"This focused look at oral and anal sex among teens and young adults is prompted by concerns that some young people may engage in other types of sexual contact before they have vaginal intercourse, to avoid the risk of pregnancy," researchers said.

ウホッ、なんと15〜24歳の女性の８人に１人はレズ経験者！そして、引用はしませんでしたが、同年齢層で性的行為経験者の約64%がオーラルセックスを、約21%がアナルセックス経験者だそうです。別の記事では、10代の若者の初体験が遅くなってる反面、オーラルセックスが「カジュアル化」（"not that a big a deal"）していると書いています。事実、オリジナル報告書にも「15〜19歳の『未経験者』のうち、約８%はオーラルセックス経験者」とあります。
「ブッシュ前政権時代の保守的な性教育」とは、10代の望まない妊娠を減らすのが目標であったため、若者における男女間膣性交は確かに減っているようです。た だ し、それ以外の妊娠につながらない性的活動の方は（ｒｙ どこが草食化なんだよw

再生医療で尿道再建

尿道障害のある10〜14歳のメキシコ人男児５人において、自前の細胞から尿道を再建し移植に成功したそうです。手術後３〜６年の経過も良好だそうで、自己組織として定着している様子が伺えます。本論文のチームは、今は膀胱再建に取り組んでるらしく、これから徐々に再生医療による臓器移植が増えていくかもしれません。21世紀っぽい技術進歩だなぁ。
